Santo Domingo, D.N.- The United States Embassy in Santo Domingo hosted a welcome reception in honor of its new Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Mr. Robert Copley, and his wife, Mrs. Yanira Copley.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Copley highlighted the shared values between the United States and the Dominican Republic as well as his interest in working for the benefit of both countries. “I want to assure you that in me you have a partner who is very interested in maintaining good communication and someone who is always willing to listen and learn”, said Copley, joined on stage by Dominican Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado.
During the event, the new interim Chief of Mission talked with Dominican Government officials and representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps, international organizations, political parties, the justice system, the legislative branch, culture, academia, business, the military and the media.
The reception was held at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence, which was decorated with beautiful works of art by emerging young Dominican artists on loan from the design school at Fundación Centro Cultural Altos de Chavón.
