Please note that it takes at least 6 – 8 weeks to receive the approval of a renunciation from Washington. The Embassy will hold your U.S. passport during this period.

To schedule an appointment for the initial interview, applicants should send an email to SDOAmericans@state.gov. Please note that due to the complexity of the renunciation process, applicants may not make an appointment for a renunciation interview via our website. The fee for renunciation of U.S. Citizenship is of $2,350.00 USD.
