U.S. Ambassador Daniel A. Sepulveda Discusses Broadband and Internet Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

Santo Domingo – Ambassador Daniel A. Sepulveda, U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy, spoke today at the Strategic Dialog:  Broadband and Internet Development in Latin America and the Caribbean hosted by the Organization of American States(OAS), Inter-American Telecommunication Commission’s (CITEL).  During the dialogue, Ambassador Sepulveda indicated the United States will continue to encourage input from the global community for ways to expand participation in today’s multi-stakeholder system of Internet governance. He also shared his support for the region’s focus on providing broadband access to rural areas and using information technology for disaster preparedness.

Today’s Strategic Dialog precedes the CITEL conference, which is the leading forum in the hemisphere for senior telecommunications officials to discuss policy issues regarding the development of telecommunications/information and communication technologies in the hemisphere.
