Around 16 percent of U.S. service members in the United States military are Hispanic. A large part of those members are Dominican-Americans. For Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to show our gratitude to those service members with Dominican heritage. Recently, Guillermo Rojas, Jr., Army Section ChIef presented the U.S. flag to families in the Dominican Republic in honor of two service members who lost their lives. We thank MSG Nelson S. Lendeborg and Specialist Francisco Gilberto Hernandez Vargas for their service.
On October 1, 2020, the U.S flag was presented to the father of MSG Nelson S. Lendeborg who lost his battle to cancer. MSG Lendeborg was assigned to Alpha Company, Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC.
On October 3, 2020, LTC Guillermo Rojas, Jr. presented three U.S. flags to the family members (Father, Mother and sister) of Specialist Francisco Gilberto Hernandez Vargas.
