The Ambassador of the United States of America to the Dominican Republic, James Brewster, applauded today the Supreme Court’s approval of marriage between same-sex couples.
“We celebrate today with our fellow Americans worldwide and our friends and allies around the world knowing that our democratic values became stronger with the ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court. In the words of Justice Anthony Kennedy in his opinion: “They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right”……it is so ordered. A true democracy treats every individual equally, allowing all its citizens the same opportunity and dignity therefore creating a more perfect union. In the words of President Obama, this morning the court ruling “made our union a little more perfect”. We will continue to encourage and support equality of all people worldwide, today our platform for that position was solidified”, Ambassador Brewster.
