The U.S. Consular Agency in Puerto Plata provides U.S. Citizen Services including emergency assistance, notarials, and non-emergency applications for U.S. passports for U.S. citizens residing in or visiting the northern Dominican Republic, including the cities of Santiago, Sosua, La Vega, Cabarete, and other locations along the North Coast. For all other services, including emergency passports or Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, please contact the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo. If you would like to make an appointment at the Puerto Plata Consular Agency, please email puertoplataconsularagency@state.gov. If you experience technical difficulties or do not have access to Internet, you may make your appointment by calling (809) 586-4204 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mon-Fri.
The U.S. Consular Agency in Puerto Plata is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm except for U.S. and Dominican holidays. Morning hours are dedicated for passport and other in-person services to the public. For after-hours emergencies, please call the Duty Officer at the U.S. Consular Section in Santo Domingo, at (809) 567-7775, dial zero (0) and request to speak to the Duty Officer.
