Thank you Maria Elena for that introduction and thank you David for hosting this lovely reception.
Good evening everyone. I will keep my comments brief because I know you are all eager to resume your evening. I echo David’s sentiments about the importance of our relationships with you.
After three years in the Dominican Republic, I continue to be impressed by the strength of our trading connection and how central it is to our overall relationship. For me it exemplifies some of the best aspects of diplomacy at work, where strangers from two different cultures can come together, find common pursuits, and create lasting business relationships.
One reason why we have been so successful is that I have a top notch Commercial team lead by David McNeill. I have seen his entire team in action and he is truly fortunate to have such a great group of people working with him who for many years have steadfastly made our trade promotion agenda so successful.
Another reason for our success is that we have the opportunity to work with excellent partners like all of you here tonight.
I promised that I would be brief, so I just wanted to convey my appreciation for all of you and our commitment to working with you to continue building trade between the Dominican Republic and the United States.
