CG23 is an annual multinational exercise designed to build humanitarian assistance/disaster response functional capacity, enhance readiness to combat common threats, and promote cooperation and interoperability between participating forces.  CG23 is a two-phase exercise with phase two taking place May 22 – June 1 in various locations throughout the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic kicks off the exercise with an opening ceremony in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on May 22.  U.S. Participants will include elements from the 321st Civil Affairs Brigade, 350th Civil Affairs Command, Puerto Rico National Guard, USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, U.S. Army South, and U.S. Southern Command.

U.S Army South is the land component for U.S. Southern Command. CG23 supports U.S. Southern Command’s initiative to enhance multinational and regional cooperation, trust, and confidence through consistent engagements with allies and partners in the Western Hemisphere.”
