Deputy Chief of Mission Greg Segas

Greg Segas, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, became Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in February 2023. He arrived in Santo Domingo as Consul General in August 2022. He most recently served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Charge d’Affaires in Luanda, Angola, where he helped to lead a 200- member interagency team. He has also served as Principal Officer in Merida, Mexico. He has also served overseas in Brazil, Libya, Colombia, Azerbaijan and Honduras, as well as serving in Washington in the Bureau of Consular Affairs. He is the recipient of several Superior and Meritorious Honor awards. A native of Northern California, he worked in the wine business before the Foreign Service. He holds Masters degrees from the Air War College and the University of Washington, and is a graduate of the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese and has studied Arabic, Russian, Uzbek, Italian, and Turkish.
