Message for U.S. Citizens – U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo Update on American Citizen Services

Event: The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo is currently providing limited services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The American Citizen Services Unit is currently providing limited in-person services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Passport and other citizenship services are available as noted below.

Passports:

Adult passport renewal applications may now be submitted by mail with full instructions on our Renew by Mail Page.   Replacement emergency passports can also be submitted by mail through the instructions on our Replace an Emergency Passport Page.

Limited appointments are available for passport holders under the age of 18 who are not eligible to renew by mail.  To renew a passport for a child under the age of 18, make an appointment online following the guidance on the Children Passport Renewal Page.

The Punta Cana Consular Agency will reopen on October 5, 2020 for limited services by appointment only.   To request an appointment for a passport that cannot be renewed by mail, please email PuntaCanaConsularAgency@state.gov.

U.S. citizens who have an emergency and need to return to the U.S. immediately, should contact the Embassy at SDOAmericans@state.gov to request an emergency passport appointment.

Notarial Services:

Notarial services are by appointment only and must be done through the online appointment system.

Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA):

For parents who wish to apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) due to immediate travel plans, please visit the CRBA website to follow the instructions on how to submit all of your documents and request an appointment.

Please note the Immigrant and Nonimmigrant Visa units remain closed for all routine visa services.
