The United States is committed to safe, orderly, and humane migration. It is never safe to come to the United States through irregular channels, and crossing the southern border irregularly is not only prohibited, it is dangerous.
The Dominican Republic is not included within the new parole program, which seeks to grant 30,000 visas to Venezuelans, Haitians, Cubans, and Nicaraguans for humanitarian purposes. Individuals who do not establish a legal basis to remain in the United States will not be eligible to legalize their migratory status and will be subject to being processed for removal.
Crossing the U.S.- Mexican border outside of the legal process is extremely dangerous. Irregular migrants face kidnapping, robbery, injury, murder, and rape at the hands of unscrupulous human smugglers. Hundreds of people die every year trying to cross the U.S. southwest border irregularly. Do not engage in this dangerous and life-threatening travel.
