Santo Domingo, D.N.- The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo extends its condolences to all those who lost loved ones and to the communities affected by the Hurricane Irma. Our embassies in The Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Barbados – as well as the U.S. Consulate General in Curacao – are open. However, as many staff from these posts are involved in Hurricane Irma relief efforts, routine consular services are limited.
The U.S. Embassy Consular Section in Santo Domingo will be closed for nonimmigrant visa services on September 12th and 13th, 2017. Those with scheduled appointments for the 12th and 13th will be notified directly of new appointment times. Visa cases will only be considered to be an emergency in matters of life and death requiring immediate travel to the United States. All requests for an emergency appointment must be made in writing.
