Mission Speakers Program

Traveling or studying in the United States is the best way to find out about its culture, traditions and institutions. But short of that, you can get a similar experience here in the Dominican Republic. The US Embassy in Santo Domingo has established a Mission Speakers Program, offering a great chance to hear from American Diplomats first hand on the topic of interest to you or your institution. The purpose of this program is for American diplomats to speak in front of various audiences and forums of people who want to hear from them. We want to share the work we do in our Embassy and familiarize you with Americans that live and work hand in hand in the various programs and communities here in the Dominican Republic. Through our diplomatic work, we are not only contributing to shaping policy, but also sharing experiences. We are proud to say that among our embassy staff we have various academic, cultural and professional backgrounds.

With this in mind, if your organization or institution is interested in foreign policy, the life and culture in the United States or other relevant current topics, the Embassy has someone who can speak on the issue. Our Embassy diplomats will be happy to volunteer their time.

The program is designed to give academic institutions the possibility of meeting and interacting with diplomats of Embassy Santo Domingo, given the current pandemic, presentations can only take place in a virtual environment. Typical presentations will consist of a short overview of a particular subject, e.g., daily life, American political system, traditions, etc.; followed by a discussion and Q&A.

If you would like to take part of this program and take advantage of the opportunity, we invite you to contact us via email at: SDOMSP@state.gov to find out details, make arrangements and find the speaker that best meets your needs. In your email, please give a brief description of your institution, the topic (s) that you would like us to address and why. We look forward to hearing from you.
