Dominican Republic Entry Requirements

A valid U.S. passport is required for all U.S. citizens seeking to enter or transit through the Dominican Republic.  Authorities have not made any exception to this policy for travelers arriving from Puerto Rico.  Dominican immigration authorities will deny entry to persons arriving without a valid travel document.  Neither commercial airlines nor the San Juan/Santo Domingo ferry will board passengers who are unable to present valid travel documents at the time of boarding. The Government of the Dominican Republic is responsible for controlling entry and exit from its borders. The U.S. Embassy is not able to assist U.S. citizens who attempt to enter the Dominican Republic without a valid travel document.

For more specific information concerning entry and exit requirements, travelers may contact the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in the United States.
