Ask the Consul – How long will I be at the Embassy on the day of my immigrant visa interview?
3 MINUTE READ
November 20, 2023

It’s hard to say how long you will be at  the Embassy on the day of your interview. You can, however, minimize your wait by arriving only 30 minutes prior to your appointment time, having all the necessary documentation uploaded beforehand, and closely following the instructions in the email you will receive prior to your interview.

Also, keep in mind that under no circumstances will you be allowed to bring into the Embassy your phone, food, or drinks.  You should consider eating a full meal before your interview, as well as bringing some reading material, like a book or a magazine, to make the wait time go by a little quicker. The waiting room can get cold, so we also suggest you bring a sweater or jacket.
