The U.S. Mission to Santo Domingo understands that many visa applicants have paid the visa application processing fee and are still waiting to schedule a visa appointment. The United States Embassy in Santo Domingo remains unable to resume routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa services at this time. We remain closed for all routine visa services, since to determine our opening we follow, not only local country regulations, but also recommendations from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and directly from the State Department. We are working diligently to restore all routine visa operations as quickly and safely as possible but are unable to provide a specific date.
In the meantime, rest assured that the U.S. Mission will extend the validity of your payment (known as the MRV fee) until December 31, 2021, to allow all applicants who are unable to schedule a visa appointment as a result of the suspension of routine consular operations an opportunity to schedule and/or attend a visa appointment with the already paid fee.
If you have an urgent matter and need to travel immediately, please follow the guidance provided at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/do/do-niv-expeditedappointment.asp to request an emergency appointment.
The Consular Section in the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo and the Visa Application Center (VAC) are processing nonimmigrant visa applications eligible for interview waiver cases only. To determine your eligibility for an interview waiver nonimmigrant visa and schedule an appointment please see: https://www.ustraveldocs.com/do/do-niv-visarenew.asp
Please continue to monitor our website as our ability to provide services continues to evolve.
