Ambassador James W. Brewster Travels to Puerto Rico to Participate in Minority Enterprise Development Week

Santo Domingo – Jan 28th- Mr. James W. Brewster, Jr., US Ambassador to the Dominican Republic travels to Puerto Rico where he will participate in a number of events related to Minority Enterprise Development Week (MEDWEEK), at the Condado Plaza Hotel. On January 30th, Ambassador Brewster will provide the keynote address for the event.  MEDWEEK is a top activity of the United States federal Minority Business Development Agency program (MBDA).

As part of MEDWEEK, the U.S. Ambassador will speak to a large audience of Puerto Rican business owners about business opportunities in the Dominican Republic and participate in the awards ceremony, which recognizes local companies’ achievements.  Additionally, the envoy will have a private meeting with the National Director of the MBDA, Alejandra Castillo, who has made headlines for being one of the highest ranking Dominican-Americans in the U.S. government.

The visit is part of the Ambassador’s broader outreach efforts to promote bilateral trade between the Dominican Republic and the United States.   Additionally, he will visit a U.S. aviation company, EcoLift Corporation, which provides maintenance services internationally, including to the Dominican Republic.  The Ambassador is also scheduled to lead a round table meeting with a representative group of entrepreneurs and trade organizations, including La Asociación Productos de Puerto Rico, to discuss the implications of CAFTA-DR and opportunities in the Dominican Republic.
